Eklutna River Bridge Now Open

On June 14th, Mayor Ethan Berkowitz and Chugiak Senator Bill Stoltze cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the Eklutna River Bridge.  Thank you to everyone who came out and helped celebrate the completion of this project!

Construction Update – Winter Shut Down

Winter Shut Down.  The Contractor for the Eklutna River Bridge Replacement Project will be suspending construction activities for the winter season beginning November 9th.

The bridge will remain closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout the winter shutdown.

Construction activities are anticipated to resume in May 2016.  Updates will be posted as they become available.

Summer 2015 Construction Planned

The Final Design was approved for the Eklutna River Bridge Replacement.  The project was released for bid and a contractor has been awarded with construction planned for this summer.  Please check back for more detailed information and scheduling.

Urban Design Commission Approves 65% Design

On October 8, 2014 the 65% Design Plans for Eklutna River Bridge Replacement and Upgrade of the Old Glenn Highway between Thunderbird Drive and Eklutna Lake Road to current design criteria standards was reviewed and approved by the Urban Design Commission.

The project is now at 95% Design.
